I think Nate brought the Rooster to life his senior year in high school. It took first in the show he entered it in. I believe this is the piece that helped him get his scholarship to SMSU.
Our sophomore year in college he entered it in another show. Obviously he wasn't supposed to recycle an old work, but he did anyway. If you look in the upper right corner you can see where he signed. On the original it's apparent that he used liquid paper to change the date to be eligible for the new show. He won again.
