The Prima Brothers (1997)

The Prima Brothers
12 Feet x 8 Feet | Paint on Wall | Owner: None - piece no longer exists

The name of this piece is "The Prima Brothers". It was done on a wall in our apartment downtown St. Louis. It is approx 2 drywall sheet long and 8 feet tall. "The Shirts": Nate and I took a trip to Disney World one year when we were in high school and ended up at the Polynesian Village buying Hawiian shirts. Since then, Nate developed a facination with Flowered, Hawiian, or Beachware shirts (dirtbag wear). "The Prima Brothers": Nate and I used to wear Hawiian shirts into the "Tangerine" (our Regal Beagle if you will). The bartender there, Matt, dubbed us "The Prima Brothers". If you have been to the Tangerine you will know Matt by his side burns and 50's greaser attire. The Tangerine is now closed down. "The Painting": Nate and I were decorating the Loft one night in the usual way, over a few drinks blaring the records. Drinking and wearing Hawiian shirts as we were, we decided to get out the BB guns (Kris knows about the BB guns. Inside joke). One thing led to another; you know, Whiskey, Elvis in the background singing kid creole, BB guns, a video camera, and Nate; so we began to pose in front of the video camera with the guns for a painting to be done on the wall for all of North St. Louis to see (kind of a warning sign not to mess us). We were tough. It's our best Scarface impression. So the above painting came about kind of like that. It is not owned by me though, I couldn't figure out how to cut a 12 foot by 8 foot hole in the wall and get away with it. I am not a carpenter and Trevor was nowhere to be found (as usual). So the painting was left on the wall and most likely painted over once I moved out (they told me they wouldn't renew my lease due to issues with the tenants in 2b, Texans).
