ST. LOUIS, MO (PREWB) June 2, 2005 -- "FEEL the Emotion", a mural dedication
ceremony and posthumous retrospective art event, presents the works of deceased
artist Nathan McClain on Saturday June 4, 2005 at Coolidge Middle School in
Granite City, IL for one day only.
Nathan McClain was a contemporary St.
Louis area artist who died tragically in 1997 at the age of 24. McClain left
behind a vast legacy of art that includes a massive 16 feet x 8 feet mural which
was saved from demolition by a grassroots fundraising effort and is being
dedicated at Coolidge Middle School. In April 2005, the prestigious
international Archives & Museum Informatics organization recognized McClain
for his impact and inspiration of communities to preserve his mural 7 years
after his death.
"In addition to the mural dedication, the 'FEEL the
Emotion' event is a first time ever posthumous viewing of Nathan’s art which
exists in the hands of private collectors and has only been seen online. This is
an exclusive chance to experience Nathan’s amazing artwork ‘offline’ live, in
person, and in one place. Truly, a unique and rare event in this digital era,”
said Kristopher Barks, curator of the Nathan McClain online
gallery.
Share in the emotions as you admire the art, life, and impact of
Nathan McClain along with those who knew him. McClain was a beloved member of
the community and is part of an elite group of contemporary St. Louis artists
who have gained international acclaim. This premiere event displays artwork
spanning McClain’s entire career and is generously provided by the family and
friends who own these pieces.
You will not find his artwork at a museum
nor a gallery; only at ‘FEEL the Emotion’ will you experience firsthand the
exceptional art from this naturally talented artist who died in his prime.
Attend the event and participate in something affecting that transcends a
traditional exhibit.
This must attend one-day event opens at 2pm with a
